The child's body needs good nutrition, providing it with a complex of minerals and vitamins necessary for the active growth and development of the body. Some of them the child needs from the first day of life.

1. Vitamin D

Given the potential harm from the sun, as well as lack of it during the winter months, an additional intake of at least 400 IU of vitamin D per day is needed for all exclusively breastfed infants.
Laboratory screening for vitamin D deficiency is performed only when indicated, so it is very important to visit the pediatrician's office regularly.

2. Iron

Iron deficiency leads to such disorders as anemia, delayed psychomotor development and cognitive function, and also contributes to the deterioration of the work of leukocytes and lymphocytes, i.e. blood cells.
It is important not only to prevent iron deficiency, but also its timely detection in mother and child.
Attention expectant mothers! During pregnancy, the needs increase and the consumption of foods rich in iron should be increased by almost 2 times: legumes, whole grains, soybeans, nuts, lettuce.
Prevention measures: daily provision of the child with the necessary amount of iron, a balanced diet, regular visits to the pediatrician.
Screening of apparently healthy children allows timely identification of those whose iron deficiency has led to the development of anemia. It is shown to all children aged 9-12 months.

3. Iodine

Lack of iodine affects the thyroid gland, which responds to the entire body. Severe pathologies caused by iodine deficiency include mental and physical developmental delays, psychomotor disorders, and others.
Considering that we live in an iodine-deficient region, it is necessary to get a consultation from your pediatrician or pediatric endocrinologist in time.
